Aaron Novack was 4 for 4 and Ryky Smith’s three-run double in the eighth inning locked up a 5-2 win over Central Connecticut State on Friday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
After dropping all but one of the season’s first 13 games, the Nittany Lions (6-14) earned their third straight win and fifth in the last six games.
With the bases loaded and two out, Smith ripped the ball to right-center field to break a 2-2 tie. Penn State also beat Villanova on Wednesday with a Greg Guers bases-clearing, two-out double in the eighth.
Smith singled and scored on an error in the fifth inning and Novack singled and scored on a wild pitch in the six to account for the other run.
