Penn State baseball: Kent State freezes Nittany Lions

Kent State pounded out 11 hits, with all but one batter collecting at least one, in a 9-7 win over Penn State on Wednesday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The Nittany Lions (8-15) had a five-game win streak snapped despite a big night for Greg Guers, who crushed two home runs and knocked in five runs. Ryky Smith also had a pair of hits for Penn State.

Luke Burch had two hits including a triple, Connor Simonetti had a single, double and knocked in two runs. Zarley Zalewski also notched a pair of hits for the Golden Flashes (14-11).

Jared Fagnano, the third of seven Nittany Lion pitchers, took the loss. Jared Skolnicki earned the win.

Penn State visits Ohio State this weekend for a three-game series starting Friday.
