The Penn State baseball team was held to four hits by Bucknell pitching, but three of those hits were doubles and all of them were at the right time for a 4-2 win over the Bison.
It snapped a four-game losing streak for the Nittany Lions (9-18) on a chilly Tuesday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Penn State took the lead with a pair of sixth-inning runs. J.J. White was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Nick Riotto then doubled to right field to bring in White, and Nick Graham singled in Riotto.
James Coates added an insurance run in the eighth, starting the inning with a double, moving up on a sacrifice bunt and scoring on Graham’s groundout. An Aaron Novack second-inning double plated the other run.
Anthony Gingerelli was 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead the Bison (15-15). Connor Van Hoose took the loss.
Tom Mullin pitched three innings of relief and earned the win, with Jack Anderson shutting Bucknell down over the final 1 2/3 hitless innings for the save.
Penn State hosts Lafayette on Wednesday.
