A Leadoff hitters job is to get on base and have his teammates drive them in.

On Friday, Penn State’s leadoff hitter Taylor Skerpon was the one driving teammates in.

Skerpon had a team-high three RBIs and went 2 for 4 in the Nittany Lions’ 11-1 rout of Michigan at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Skerpon’s two-run single in the sixth inning highlighted a four-run inning by Penn State (10-18, 2-4 Big Ten). The Nittany Lions held a 5-0 lead going into that inning.

Penn State starting pitcher Nick Hedge had a solid seven inning outing scattering six hits and striking out two.

Aaron Novak and Ryky Smith were the only other Nittany Lion hitters to have a multi-hit game. Smith and Nick Graham each drove in two runs.
