The Penn State baseball team had trouble getting the timely hits Saturday afternoon, falling 5-3 to Michigan.
A night after swamping the Wolverines 11-1, the Nittany Lions left 10 men on base to even the series. The teams complete the three-game set Sunday afternoon at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Michigan (20-14, 5-6 Big Ten) pounded out 11 hits, led by two each for Jackson Glines, Carmen Benedetti, Kyle Jusick and Johnny Slater. Kendall Patrick added a two-run single.
A second-inning RBI single for Ryky Smith, after a James Coates double, and a two-run home from for Greg Guers in the ninth inning accounted for Penn State’s runs. It was Guers’ fourth homer of the season.

Aaron Novak added a single to extend his hit streak to 10 games for the Nittany Lions (10-19, 2-5).
Taylor Lehman (1-3) pitched five innings and gave up nine hits and two walks with four strikeouts in the loss.
Ryan Nutof tossed six innings for the win, giving up five hits and four walks but just one run.
