Penn State baseball: Nittany Lions roll past Bucknell

Penn State scored five runs in the first inning and rolled to an 11-2 win over Bucknell at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Wednesday.

Jim Haley drove in the Nittany Lions’ first run and later stole home on a double steal to make it 3-0. Tyler Kendall’s two-run double capped the big inning.

Penn State then scored three runs on two Bucknell errors to push the lead to 8-0 in the second inning. Haley and Ryan Richter each had two hits to lead the Nitany Lions.

Penn State’s Tom Mullin went five innings, allowing one run on four hits to earn the win. Austin Zimmerman gave up five runs in 2/3 of an inning to take the loss for Bucknell (18-17).

The Nittany Lions (12-20) open a three-game series at Minnesota at 7 p.m. Friday.
