Penn State baseball: Minnesota clinches series with drubbing of Nittany Lions

Minnesota jumped out to a five-run lead after four innings and didn’t look back in its 8-1 victory over Penn State on Saturday.

The Gophers’ Michael Handel did most of the damage going 4 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs. Dan Motl and Tony Skjefte also drove in two runs each for Minnesota (15-19, 5-9 Big Ten).

Taylor Lehman took the loss on the mound for the Nittany Lions (12-22, 2-8) giving up nine hits and five runs in six innings of work.

Greg Guers tallied two of Penn State’s six hits in the game.
