Nittany Lions’ Anderson named to watch list
Penn State’s Jack Anderson was named to the watch list Monday for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award.
The honor goes to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball.
The senior right-hander had a team-best 2.98 ERA in 2015, which ranked ninth in the Big Ten. He had four wins and five saves in 29 appearances. He has 12 career saves in 69 appearances, which rank third and fourth, respectively, in team history.
The Big Ten matched the Pac-12 with eight pitchers each on the watch list, and the Atlantic Coast Conference led with 12.
The Nittany Lions open their season at 2 p.m. Friday against Monmouth at the USA Baseball National Training Center in Cary, N.C.
