Penn State pitchers Nick Hedge and Jack Anderson combined to throw six scoreless innings of relief to lead the Nittany Lions to a 2-1 win over Duke on Wednesday.
Penn State scored two runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good. Nick Riotto reached on an error to start the inning and later scored on a groundout, and Jordan Bowersox’s sacrifice fly drove in the go-ahead run.
Hedge threw 4 2/3 innings of relief, allowing two hits and striking out three to earn the win. Anderson picked up the save with 1 1/3 scorless innings.
Penn State starting pitcher Eli Nabholz allowed one run on one hit in three innings. He struck out five and walked three.

Duke scored its lone run on a sacrifice fly in the third inning. Duke and Penn State both managed just three hits.
The Nittany Lions (4-7) will face NYIT in the Spider Invitational in Richmond, Va., at 1 p.m. Friday.
