Penn State rolls past NYIT
Penn State pounded out 15 hits en route to a 15-2 victory over the New York Institute of Technology at the Spider Invitational on Friday.
Tyler Kendall went 4 for 6 with two RBIs, and Conlin Hughes finished 3 for 6, scored two runs and drove in another to lead the Nittany Lions. Penn State’s Jim Haley went 2 for 5 with two RBIs and scored three runs.
The Nittany Lions broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Kendall, to take a 7-1 lead.
Penn State starting pitcher Taylor Lehman allowed one unearned run and four hits in six innings to earn the win. Lehman finished with five strikeouts.
The Nittany Lions (5-7) continue the tournament against Princeton at 10 a.m. Saturday.
