Baseball falls at Illinois, schedule changed

Doomed by an Illinois four-run first inning, Penn State was ousted by the Illini 5-0 on Friday.

Nittany Lions starter Taylor Lehman was tagged with the loss after tossing four innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits. He struck out three and walked two.

Illinois’ Cody Sedlock was the winning pitcher, as he was good for seven scoreless innings, striking out 10 along the way.

The Nittany Lions were 1 of 17 at the plate with runners on base, and 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position.

Penn State (9-11) continues its three-game series against Illinois with a doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game slated to start at noon. Originally, the Nittany Lions were scheduled to play one game Saturday and one on Sunday, but expected inclement weather forced a change.
