Haley’s 2-run triple highlights Penn State win
Jim Haley laced a two-run triple to polish off a pivotal three-run fourth inning in Penn State baseball’s 5-2 win over Binghamton on Wednesday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Haley finished 2 of 5 at the plate, pushing his batting average to a team-leading .362 on the year.
Penn State starter Nick Hedge (2-1) earned the win with an effective performance, allowing only one run and five hits over 5 1/3 innings of work.
Nick Distasio tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, and Jack Anderson shut the door with two strikeouts in the final inning to notch his eighth save of the season.
The Nittany Lions (12-12) host Purdue at 6:30 p.m. Friday, kickstarting a three-game weekend series.
