Penn State baseball wins one of two in doubleheader, drops series to Michigan State

Penn State won one of two games against Michigan State in a Sunday doubleheader, but ultimately dropped the series to the Spartans after a loss Friday.

The Nittany Lions were bested 5-2 in the first game after Michigan State poured in four runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Penn State stranded 10 runners in the effort.

The second game (and series finale) was won by the Nittany Lions 7-6 in wild fashion, after a throwing error to first base allowed Jim Haley to score from third. Jordan Bowersox provided the hit, a bloop to second that was overthrown.

Penn State is now 18-4 on the season and 5-4 in the conference. The team hosts Bucknell next on April 13 at 6:30 p.m.
