Penn State’s Riotto earns Big Ten honor
Penn State’s Nick Riotto was named Big Ten Baseball Player of the Week on Monday.
The outfielder wielded a hot bat in five games last week, batting .545 (12 for 22) with a .583 on-base percentage. He clubbed a home run and two doubles, scored eight runs and knocked in six more. The week was highlighted by a 3 for 4 game against Michigan State to close a doubleheader on Sunday, and a 3 for 4 day against Pittsburgh to open the week.
Riotto is the second Nittany Lion to pick up a weekly award this season, joining Willie Burger on March 21.
Penn State hosts Bucknell on Wednesday.
