Penn State rolls past Northwestern in baseball

Greg Guers finished 3 for 5 with a home run to help Penn State beat Northwestern 11-3 on Sunday, finishing a three-game sweep.

Guers scored three runs and drove in two runs, and Jim Haley went 4 for 6 with two doubles and scored three runs to lead the Nittany Lions offensively.

James Coates’ two-run home run in the second inning gave Penn State the lead for good. Penn State starting pitcher Justin Hagenman allowed three runs in six innings to earn the win. Nick Hedge threw three scoreless innings for the save.

Penn State (22-14, 8-4) host Bucknell at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
