Two of the hottest bats in the lineup for the red-hot Penn State baseball team picked up weekly honors from the Big Ten on Monday.
Greg Guers was named the conference Player of the Week and Willie Burger picked up Freshman of the Week honors for the Nittany Lions (22-13), who have won five straight and 17 of their last 21 games. They beat Bucknell 8-1 and swept a three-game series from Northwestern last week.
In the four games, Guers batted .765, with at least three hits in each game. He had 13 hits in 17 at-bats, eight RBIs with a home run, two doubles and five stolen bases.
Burger hit .467 (7 for 15) with a home run and five RBIs, in his first action since March 26 after being sidelined with an injury.
