Guers, Anderson earn All-Big Ten honors in baseball
Outfielder Greg Guers and relief pitcher Jack Anderson headlined Penn State’s All-Big Ten selections announced by the conference Tuesday.
Guers earned second-team honors after hitting a career-high .313, scoring a career-high 40 runs and tying a career-high with 38 RBIs. Anderson, who received third-team honors, finished with a program single-season record of 13 saves. He was tied for first in the conference in saves and finished with a 2.14 ERA.
Anderson owns the program record with 25 career saves.
Penn State first baseman Willie Burger and starting pitcher Justin Hagenman earned All-Big Ten Freshman Team honors.
Burger, a unanimous selection, hit .250 and finished second on Penn State with 34 RBIs in 39 games. Hagenman went 6-3 with a 3.84 ERA.
Alex Malinsky received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for the Nittany Lions.
