Source: Penn State men’s basketball guard Sam Sessoms to enter transfer portal
Penn State men’s basketball will have another open scholarship to fill this offseason. Senior guard Sam Sessoms will be entering the transfer portal, a source confirmed to the Centre Daily Times. The senior guard’s portal entry was first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.
Sessoms was a key contributor at Penn State for two seasons and helped carry the load for the team offensively this season alongside fellow senior Jalen Pickett.
He averaged 11.6 points per game, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game and controlled the offense for extended stretches when he was on the court. He joined the Nittany Lions prior to the 2020-2021 season after spending two years at Binghamton.
Sessoms is averaging 14.6 points per game for his career and utilized his ball handling ability to get into paint and to the rim to score. He’s the first Nittany Lion to enter the portal this offseason and has one more year of eligibility remaining.
Without Sessoms, Pickett will be the team’s lone returning ball handler, but incoming freshmen guards Kanye Clary and Jameel Brown will help the team from that standpoint next season.
