Penn State men’s basketball has picked up another piece in the transfer portal. UNC forward Puff Johnson announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions Wednesday afternoon on his Twitter.

Johnson officially visited the program earlier this week.

He spent his first three seasons with the Tar Heels, including scoring 11 points in the national title game at the end of the 2021-2022 season.

Johnson averaged 4.1 points per game this season.

He joins a growing list of transfers to join the program under new head coach Mike Rhoades. Rhoades and his staff have had to build a roster mostly from scratch after former head coach Micah Shrewsberry left for Notre Dame.

Former VCU players Ace Baldwin Jr. and Nick Kern Jr. have followed Rhoades to Penn State, while former Temple F Zach Hicks joined as well.

That puts the program at seven scholarship players with two more in the transfer portal that could return in Evan Mahaffey and Kebba Njie.

Jameel Brown and Kanye Clary have announced they intend to return, while Demetrius Lilley is expected to come back as well.
