Penn State picked up a commitment Wednesday afternoon from a player in the 2023 recruiting class. The Nittany Lions added Bragi Gudmundsson, who announced his commitment via Instagram.

Gudmundsson — a 6-foot-5 guard — joins the program from Iceland where he played for Grindavik in the top league in the country. He averaged 10.4 points per game for the club during the most recent regular season.

The addition of Gudmundsson gives the program its first member of the 2023 recruiting class after previous signees Braeden Shrewsberry, Logan Imes and Carey Booth all flipped their commitment to Notre Dame where they will follow former Penn State head coach Micah Shrewsberry.

The Nittany Lions are now up to 11 scholarship players with two openings remaining as the roster rounds into form heading into Mike Rhoades’ first season as head coach.

They’ve already added Ace Baldwin Jr. (VCU), Nick Kern Jr. (VCU), Zach Hicks (Temple), Puff Johnson (North Carolina), Qudus Wahab (Georgetown), Leo O’Boyle (Lafayette) and RayQuawndis Mitchell (Kansas City) from the transfer portal while retaining Kanye Clary, Demetrius Lilley and Jameel Brown from last season’s roster.
