Penn State football won’t play Friday night game next season

The Big Ten conference released its 2017 Friday night schedule on Tuesday, six days after announcing the addition of Friday night football games — and Penn State stating that it would not host any such contests.

The conference respected the program’s stance: there are no Friday night games to be held at Beaver Stadium next season.

Even more, Penn State isn’t on the Friday night slate.

The Nittany Lions, who released a statement to the conference last week saying they’d be willing to take part in one road Friday night game per season, won’t have any short weeks in 2017.

Instead, here are the six Friday night Big Ten football games, which will be televised by ESPN and FOX:

▪ Washington at Rutgers, Sept. 1

▪ Utah State at Wisconsin, Sept. 1

▪ Ohio at Purdue, Sept. 8

▪ Nebraska at Illinois, Sept. 29

▪ Northwestern at Maryland, Oct. 13

▪ Michigan State at Northwestern, Oct. 27
