DaeSean Hamilton breaks record, becomes Penn State’s new all-time receptions leader
DaeSean Hamilton is a Penn State football career record-holder.
With his eighth catch of the afternoon, Hamilton surpassed Deon Butler and captured the No. 1 spot on the program’s all-time receptions list. Hamilton’s 180th catch — a fourth-quarter snare of Saturday’s game against Indiana — eclipsed Butler’s 179 grabs.
The redshirt senior has had an up-and-down collegiate career to say the least. Hamilton tallied 82 receptions in 2013 before his production dropped off with 45 and 34 catches in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
Still, the 6-foot-1 pass-catcher is a reliable target out of the slot, and he’s proved that against the Hoosiers.
And now, Hamilton’s in the Penn State record books.
Read here what Butler, Allen Robinson, family, former teammates and more had to say about Hamilton approaching history.
