Former Penn State OL Chance Sorrell proposes at Beaver Stadium after Nittany Lions’ win
Immediately after the postgame alma mater, the Nittany Lions normally trot off the field, wave to fans, ring the victory bell and call it a day.
Saturday’s script was a bit different.
Penn State players and coaches unlocked their arms following their rendition of the alma mater and made their way over to south end zone Blue Band field-access stairs.
They crowded around former Penn State offensive lineman Chance Sorrell and his girlfriend, Kayla Lonergan. Sorrell, who retired from football last October and now serves as a student assistant performance enhancement coach, got on one knee and proposed.
Lonergan said yes — and the reaction was priceless. The student section cheered and former teammates like Jon Holland and Irvin Charles jumped for joy while James Franklin looked on and smiled.
It was a coordinated proposal, and a successful one at that.
Haven’t seen this one before but the game ended with a marriage proposal and PSU’s players and coaches were in on it. pic.twitter.com/ByGxXs97uA
