Former Penn State football RB Ricky Slade to join his former OC Ricky Rahne at Old Dominion

Former Penn State football player Ricky Slade has found a new program. The former five-star recruit and Penn State running back announced his decision to transfer to Old Dominion with a Tweet Friday afternoon.

He originally entered the transfer portal in February.

Slade will reunite with his former offensive coordinator, Ricky Rahne, took the school’s head coach position after leading the Penn State offense for two seasons. Slade ran for 471 yards and eight touchdowns on 92 carries in his time with the Nittany Lions.

He began the season as Penn State’s starting running back before ultimately falling behind Journey Brown and Noah Cain while splitting touches with Devyn Ford as the third man into the game at the position.

The Nittany Lions still have plenty of depth after Slade’s departure, with Brown, Cain and Ford being joined by freshmen Caziah Holmes and Keyvone Lee in the backfield.

Penn State is set to begin its season on Sept. 5 against Kent State. Old Dominion is scheduled to begin its season the day prior against Wake Forest.
