Where did Penn State football land in the AP Top 25 poll after losing to Illinois?
Penn State football plummeted in the latest AP Top 25 poll.
The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 20 in Sunday afternoon’s poll after being ranked No. 7 in last week’s poll. They fell 13 spots after losing to unranked Illinois in nine overtimes at home, 20-18. The Fighting Illini remain unranked.
Penn State had 471 voting points this week, 81 more than No. 21 San Diego State and two fewer than No. 19 SMU.
The Nittany Lions will travel to Columbus to take on No. 5 Ohio State this weekend.
Penn State is one of five Big Ten teams ranked in the poll — four of the five are in the top 10. They’re joined by the aforementioned Buckeyes, No. 6 Michigan, No. 8 Michigan State and No. 9 Iowa.
