Penn State football offensive lineman Des Holmes has entered the transfer portal, per report
The Nittany Lions are heading into the offseason with a number of changes to their coaching staff. Now, they will face a change to their offensive line depth.
As first reported by Rivals, redshirt senior Des Holmes has entered the transfer portal, after playing in 32 career games with Penn State. He played in 10 of 12 games this season, appearing against Wisconsin, Ball State, Auburn, Villanova, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan and Michigan State.
During his redshirt junior season in 2020, Holmes saw action in four of five Penn State games. He played against Indiana, Ohio State, Maryland and Illinois.
He saw his most time on the field in his redshirt sophomore season, where Penn State won the Cotton Bowl against Memphis. Appearing in 13 games, Holmes started in matchups with Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Indiana, Ohio State, Rutgers and Memphis.
Holmes appeared in five games during his redshirt freshman season against Kent State, Illinois, Michigan State and Wisconsin, seeing action on both the line and special teams throughout the season.
Prior to coming to Penn State, Holmes ranked as a 3-star prospect, the 867th-ranked player nationally in the class of 2017, the 82nd-ranked offensive tackle in the nation and the 13th best player in the state of Pennsylvania, per 247Sports.
Holmes currently has one remaining year of eligibility.
Penn State currently has commitments in the class of 2022 from offensive tackles Drew Shelton (Downingtown East), JB Nelson (Lackawanna C.C.), Andre Roye (St. Frances, Maryland) and Maleek McNeil (Corlandt Manor, New York.)
