Penn State football announces change of date for season-opening matchup with Purdue

Fans of Penn State football will have to wait no longer to find out when the Nittany Lions will first take the field in 2022.

The Nittany Lions have announced that their season-opening road matchup against Purdue will move up two days to Thursday, Sept. 1, instead of the previously scheduled Saturday, Sept. 3 date at Ross-Ade Stadium.

The Boilermakers finished fourth in the Big Ten West with a conference record of 6-3 and a 9-4 record overall. Purdue defeated Tennessee in the Music City Bowl, 48-45 in overtime.
