Three former Penn State standouts and a current coach are on the ballot for the National Football Foundation’s College Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023.

Ki-Jana Carter, D.J. Dozier and Paul Posluszny are among the 80 FBS players on the ballot, which was emailed to voters Monday.

Carter was named a first-team All-American during the 1994 season. The running back was fourth nationally in rushing, second in scoring and fifth in all-purpose yardage, and led the Big Ten in all three categories. He was runner-up for the Heisman Trophy and co-MVP of the Rose Bowl. Carter was the first Nittany Lion to be picked No. 1 when the Cincinnati Bengals chose him in the 1995 NFL Draft.

Dozier received first-team All-America honors in 1986. The tailback is the only player to lead the Nittany Lions in rushing during four consecutive seasons (1983-86) and is fifth on the school career rushing yardage list. He scored the game-winning touchdown in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl against Miami and was named Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Game. Dozier was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 1987 draft.

Posluszny was a first-team All-American in 2005 and 2006. The outside linebacker was the second two-time winner of the Chuck Bednarik Award, which is given to the top defensive player in the country. He won the Butkus Award in 2005 as the country’s top linebacker and was a finalist in 2006. Posluszny was a two-time team captain, Penn State’s career tackle leader and the 2006 Academic All-American of the Year for Division I football. The Buffalo Bills drafted him in the second round in 2007.

Penn State wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield is on the ballot for his playing career. He was a consensus All-American and a finalist in 2004 for the Biletnikoff Award, which is given to the country’s top receiver.

Former Penn State student-athlete Glenn Killinger is a candidate for divisional coach.

“It’s an enormous honor to just be on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot considering more than 5.54 million people have played college football and only 1,056 players have been inducted,” National Football Foundation President and CEO Steve Hatchell said in a statement.

“The Hall’s requirement of being a First-Team All-American creates a much smaller pool of about 1,500 individuals who are even eligible. Being in today’s elite group means an individual is truly among the greatest to have ever played the game, and we look forward to announcing the 2023 College Football Hall of Fame Class early next year.”
