Penn State bowl projections: Which New Year’s Six bowl is the team forecasted to be in?
Penn State is about to enter its most difficult stretch of the season after beginning the year 5-0 and going through its bye week.
The Nittany Lions are undefeated heading into a top-10 matchup for the second year in a row; last season, they faced Iowa following a 5-0 start. That season ended with six losses in eight games, including the bowl game — a defeat at the hands of Arkansas in the Outback Bowl.
The program hasn’t found its way back to a New Year’s Six bowl game since the 2019 season — the first season with Sean Clifford at the helm as the team’s starting quarterback. Now he’s entering his final season with the program as a four-year starter and trying to take the team back to where it was in his first year.
After this year’s start, the Nittany Lions are widely projected to break that streak without New Year’s Six bowls and head to the Orange Bowl against an ACC opponent.
Lets take a look at where Clifford and the Nittany Lions are projected to land during bowl season ahead of Saturday’s matchup with Michigan.
