Penn State sits just outside top 10 in AP college football rankings after Maryland win
Penn State climbed three spots in the new AP Top 25 poll after Saturday’s 30-0 win over Maryland. The Nittany Lions were ranked 11th in the college football rankings released Sunday.
The top five teams in the poll were unchanged, but Oregon’s loss scrambled the rest of the top 10.
The Ducks took the biggest fall in this week’s rankings, dropping six places to No. 12 after losing to Washington. The Huskies made the biggest jump, rising nine spots to No. 15.
This week, the Nittany Lions (8-2, 5-2) play their last road game of the regular season when they face Rutgers (4-6, 1-6). The game will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on BTN.
Penn State received 882 points in this week’s poll, 26 ahead of No. 12 Oregon and 83 behind No. 10 Utah.
The Big Ten had three ranked teams after Illinois fell out of the rankings: No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Michigan and No. 11 Penn State.
