Here’s what we know about which Penn State football players will be in the Rose Bowl

Penn State will only be without one player in the Rose Bowl due to opt outs, as things stand.

Joey Porter Jr. announced his decision to opt out earlier this month, but several other players made their decision known during the team’s bowl media day.

PJ Mustipher, Ji’Ayir Brown, Mitch Tinsley and several other Nittany Lions affirmed that they would be playing in the game.

The decision comes after numerous players opted out of last year’s bowl game.

Several of the players who chose to play this year cited the prestige of the bowl this year in their decisions. Brown is one of the most notable players to decide to play. He was one of the key players on the defense and should have a large role against a physical Utah opponent.

The full list of players to say they’re playing includes Brown, Mustipher, Tinsley, Adisa Isaac, Brenton Strange and Juice Scruggs. Sean Clifford previously said he would play in the team’s bowl.

The Nittany Lions and Utes will face off in Pasadena on Jan. 2 at 5 p.m.
