Penn State football defensive end Adisa Isaac announces return for 2023 season
Sunday was a big news day for Penn State football.
While Nittany Lions redshirt senior offensive lineman Bryce Effner announced that he will “step away” from football , Redshirt junior defensive end Adisa Isaac announced he’ll return to the program for the 2023 season.
“In the past four years, it has truly been a pleasure to play football for Penn State University and learn from some of the most influential coaches and staff in the football industry, along with gaining a brotherhood that will forever be in my life,” Isaac wrote. “I also had the greatest opportunity to work towards my college degree which is very important to myself and my family with whom have been my strength and driving force from day one. I am truly grateful for all of my teammates and coaches that have supported and pushed me to be better, a better player on and off of the field.”
Isaac played 13 games in 2022, making 28 total tackles (15 solo), 11 tackles for loss and four sacks. The redshirt junior earned All-Big Ten third team honors from the coaches and an honorable mention by the media. He’s played in 27 games for Penn State, making 55 total tackles (24 solo), 15.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and caused a forced fumble.
The 6-4 defensive end was a 4-star recruit in the class of 2019 from Brooklyn, New York, the 92nd-ranked player in his class, the fourth-ranked weakside defensive end and the No. 1 player in New York, per 247Sports.
Penn State is set to return rising freshman Dani Dennis-Sutton, rising junior Chop Robinson, rising junior Amin Vanover, rising redshirt junior Jake Wilson, rising sophomore Zuriah Fisher and rising redshirt senior Smith Vilbert. The Nittany Lions signed 4-star edge rushers Jameial Lyons and Ta’Mere Robinson, along with 3-star edge rusher Joseph Mupoyi and 3-star defensive end Mason Robinson.
