Penn State remains steady in first AP Top 25 poll of the regular season
Penn State remained at No. 7 in the first AP Top 25 poll of the regular season after the team’s season-opening 38-15 win Saturday over the West Virginia Mountaineers.
The Nittany Lions, which were also ranked No. 7 in the preseason college football rankings, remained the third-highest ranked team in the Big Ten with Michigan (No. 2) and Ohio State (No. 5) ahead of them.
Those three teams are joined by one other Big Ten team in the rankings, with Wisconsin coming in at No. 19. The Iowa Hawkeyes just missed out, coming in as the top vote-getter not in the AP Top 25.
Penn State will try to improve on its ranking this weekend when it takes on the Delaware Blue Hens at noon Saturday in Beaver Stadium. The game will air on Peacock.
The Nittany Lions received 1,212 points in this week’s poll, 105 points ahead of No. 8 Washington and 43 behind No. 6 USC.
