Penn State Football

Where did Penn State football move in the top-25 rankings after blowing out UMass?

Despite Penn State’s 63-0 blowout win over UMass on Saturday, the Nittany Lions still dropped one spot in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll.

At No. 7, Penn State is back to where it started this season in the poll, which was released Sunday afternoon. The fall comes after after spending three weeks at No. 6.

Washington was one spot behind Penn State last week but leap-frogged the Nittany Lions after beating Oregon, 36-33, on Saturday. Oregon dropped one spot to No. 9.

Penn State remains the third-highest ranked team in the Big Ten. Michigan is still at No. 2 and the Nittany Lions’ next opponent, Ohio State, is ahead of at them at No. 3.

When it came to the top 10, the top four teams remained the same in Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Florida State.

The undefeated Nittany Lions will try to improve on their ranking this weekend when they travel to Columbus for their biggest test of the season to date.

The Nittany Lions received 1,253 points in this week’s poll, 155 points ahead of No. 8 Texas and 24 behind No. 6 Oklahoma.

The College Football Playoff committee will release its first set of rankings Oct. 31.
