How far did Penn State football drop in the top-25 rankings after loss to Ohio State?
Penn State football dropped three spots in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll following Saturday’s loss to Ohio State.
The Nittany Lions are now 6-1 on the season and at No. 10 in the poll, which was released Sunday afternoon. The Buckeyes, which remain undefeated after beating Penn State 20-12 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, are still in the No. 3 spot.
Last week, the Nittany Lions were ranked No. 7 in the poll, after spending three weeks at No. 6. They started the season at No. 7, so this week’s ranking is the lowest yet in the regular season. They’re still the third-highest ranked team in the Big Ten, behind Ohio State and No. 2 Michigan.
There was no movement in the top six teams in this week’s poll, but Texas, Oregon and Alabama moved up and are now all ahead of Penn State in the top 10. Penn State received 999 votes in the poll, 77 points ahead of No. 11 Oregon State and 72 behind No. 9 Alabama.
The Nittany Lions will try to improve on their ranking this weekend when they take on Indiana at Beaver Stadium at noon Saturday.
The College Football Playoff committee will release its first set of rankings Oct. 31.
