Penn State DE Chop Robinson declares for 2024 NFL Draft, announces bowl decision
Penn State will be without one of its best players for the bowl game.
Defensive end Chop Robinson announced Tuesday afternoon that he will be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft and will forego playing in the Peach Bowl against Ole Miss.
He announced the decision with a statement on Twitter.
Robinson, in the announcement, thanked Nittany Lion fans for his two years with the program.
“To Penn State fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart for accepting me with open arms and making these past two years the best years of my life,” his statement read. “I will always cherish our time together and your unwavering support through the many ups and downs is something I will be eternally grateful for. ... From one dream to the next, I am excited to continue this next chapter.”
The defensive end was a five-star recruit in high school and played his first college season at Maryland, where he registered two sacks. He transferred to Penn State following his freshman season, recording 10 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks as a sophomore and immediately making an impact with his explosive first step and knack for beating offensive tackles as a pass rusher.
Robinson added four more sacks this season, his junior year, and another 7.5 tackles for loss as he became one of the best players on the Penn State defense.
He has been projected as a potential first round pick since the draft cycle began and will have a chance to go on the first day of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Robinson is one of three current Nittany Lions that have been projected that highly, along with cornerback Kalen King and offensive tackle Olu Fashanu.
