Penn State RB Kaytron Allen says he’s ‘definitely’ returning to the Nittany Lions in 2024

Penn State running back Kaytron Allen isn’t interested in the transfer portal.

The sophomore Nittany Lion said Friday morning that he’s “definitely” returning with the program in 2024, putting to rest any potential chatter about his post-bowl plans.

“I’m not too big on that,” Allen said, referring to the portal during the Peach Bowl media day inside Beaver Stadium. “I’m focused on the main thing. ... I’m not focused on the outside. I don’t worry about the outside.”

Allen’s pledge is an important one for the Nittany Lions. He led the team in rushing during the regular season with 851 yards on 162 carries, averaging a full yard-per-carry more than teammate Nick Singleton, who boasts 702 yards on 163 carries.

Allen also has seven total touchdowns — six rushing, one receiving — in addition to 14 catches for 81 yards.

The sophomore’s words come about three weeks after the regular-season finale against Michigan State, when Singleton told reporters, “I’m staying here.”

The two running backs, both in their second seasons, will not be eligible for the NFL draft until 2025. Their next game, against Ole Miss in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, kicks off at noon Dec. 30.
