Source: Penn State football will need to fill another coordinator role. Here’s what to know

Penn State will now have to replace a third coordinator this offseason.

Special teams coordinator/outside linebackers and nickels coach Stacy Collins is leaving to join Boise State as the special teams coordinator/linebackers coach/assistant head coach, a source with knowledge of the situation told the Centre Daily Times.

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg first reported the news.

Collins spent two years at Penn State but has spent the majority of his career on the West Coast, including joining the Nittany Lions after a year at Boise State as special teams coordinator/edge coach.

His departure marks three coordinators to leave the program over the last three months, with head coach James Franklin firing offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich in November, defensive coordinator Manny Diaz leaving to be the head coach at Duke and now Collins leaving for Boise State.
