Penn State to be well represented in Super Bowl. Here are the Nittany Lions you’ll see

Penn State will have three players vying for a Super Bowl ring when the Kansas City Chiefs meet the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas.

The Nittany Lions will be represented on the NFC side by 49ers safety Ji’Ayir Brown — who is completing his rookie season after playing for Penn State in 2022 — and defensive tackle Kevin Givens, while Kansas City offensive tackle Donovan Smith will represent the university on the AFC side.

Smith has already won a Super Bowl as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was a member of the Tampa Bay team that won the title at the end of the 2020 season in Tom Brady’s final Super Bowl appearance.

Brown and Smith both started for their respective teams in their championship games on Sunday, with the latter protecting the blindside of Patrick Mahomes and the former playing a part in the 49er defense. Brown was second on the team with 10 total tackles in the game and had five solo tackles as well.

The current players will also be joined by a former Nittany Lion on the field in the form of a game official. Terry Killens, who is set to be the umpire in the game, played for the program from 1992-1995.

The Super Bowl is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET in Allegiant Stadium on February 11.
