Two Penn State football players are on interim suspension weeks before start of season

Weeks before the start of the new season, two Penn State football players have been placed on interim suspension, a program spokesperson said Wednesday.

Defensive end Jameial Lyons and linebacker Kaveion Keys are on interim suspension to “deal with a personal matter,” spokesperson Greg Kincaid said.

The program will have no further comment, he said.

Lyons is projected to have a key role behind Abdul Carter and Dani Dennis-Sutton after recording one sack last year as a true freshman. Keys is expected to see an increased role at linebacker this year after redshirting last season.

Both players remain on the roster and in the Penn State student directory. Neither was at Wednesday evening’s practice, the first of fall camp.

The Nittany Lions open the season on Aug. 31 when they face West Virginia on the road.
