Two Penn State defenders are no longer enrolled and no longer on the roster, program says

Penn State defensive end Jameial Lyons and linebacker Kaveion Keys are no longer enrolled at the school and are off the team’s roster.

A Penn State spokesperson confirmed their status to the Centre Daily Times on Saturday morning, but had no further comment.

On3 first reported the news.

Both players were placed on interim suspension to “deal with a personal matter” and were not present Wednesday evening at the team’s first fall practice.

Lyons was projected to have a key role behind Abdul Carter and Dani Dennis-Sutton after recording one sack last year as a true freshman. Keys was expected to see an increased role at linebacker this year after redshirting last season.

Penn State will begin its season on Aug. 31 on the road against West Virginia.
