Penn State remains in top 10 of AP top 25 following dominant victory over West Virginia

Penn State stayed steady in the AP top 25 poll after a dominant win over West Virginia.

The Nittany Lions came in as the No. 8 team in the first AP top 25 poll of the regular season, which was released Tuesday afternoon.

Penn State’s ranking keeps them as the third-highest ranked team in the Big Ten. Only Ohio State (No. 2), and Oregon (No. 7) are ranked above the Nittany Lions — the same two teams that were above them in the preseason poll. There are three more Big Ten teams behind the Nittany Lions in the poll: Michigan (No. 10), USC (No. 13) and Iowa (No. 21). Nebraska, Washington and Wisconsin received votes in the poll, but are not ranked.

The Buckeyes and Trojans are the only teams Penn State plays this year that are currently ranked.

The Nittany Lions are 51 voting points behind No. 7 Oregon and 178 ahead of No. 9 Missouri.

They will try to get to 2-0 this weekend when they take on Bowling Green in their home opener at Beaver Stadium.
