Penn State football announces kickoff time for homecoming game against Illinois

Penn State football’s homecoming game will be a late one — the Sept. 28 game against Illinois will kick off at 7 or 7:30 p.m., the athletics department announced Monday.

The game’s television designation has not been determined.

The game not only marks homecoming in Beaver Stadium, but the first conference opponent for the No. 10 Nittany Lions. The Fighting Illini are 3-0 after beating Central Michigan this weekend, and are currently ranked No. 24.

First, the Nittany Lions will take on MAC opponent Kent State at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Beaver Stadium. They’re expected to have no trouble with the Golden Flashes, which suffered a 71-0 loss Saturday to No. 6 Tennessee.

Remaining kickoff time announcements will come within two weeks of each game.
