Here’s where Penn State sits in the AP top 25 after beating Wisconsin on the road
Penn State football will head into its biggest game this season as the No. 3 ranked team in the Associated Press Top-25 poll, just above Saturday’s opponent, Ohio State.
The undefeated Nittany Lions remain at No. 3 in the most recent poll, which was released Sunday afternoon, after their 28-13 win over Wisconsin on the road. Ohio State is also unchanged from last week at No. 4 after beating Nebraska 21-17 this weekend.
Without any movement in the top 4 of the poll, Oregon is steady at No. 1, followed by Georgia. Other ranked Big Ten teams are No. 13 Indiana and No. 24 Illinois.
Penn State had 1,417 voting points, which was 90 more than Ohio State and 50 fewer than Georgia.
The Nittany Lions started the season at No. 8 and have moved up to their highest spot in seven years. In the 2017 season, they reached as high as No. 2 after blowing out Michigan in Beaver Stadium.
The College Football Playoff selection committee will release its first set of rankings on Nov. 5.
All eyes will be on Happy Valley this week when the Nittany Lions take on the Buckeyes at noon in Beaver Stadium. Both Fox Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN College GameDay will be in town for the event — a first in Penn State history.
Even former President Donald Trump may be in attendance, with the university confirming last week that the Republican presidential candidate was invited by a private citizen to attend the game from their suite.
“The U.S. Secret Service is working with University Police and Public Safety and other state and local law enforcement on safety and security measures that are put into place around the presence of presidential candidates,” spokesman Wyatt DuBois wrote in an email. “With that in mind, we encourage fans, anyone visiting campus, and all those attending the game to arrive early to the game or to their intended destinations.”
