How far did Penn State football drop in the AP top 25 after losing to Ohio State?
Penn State football dropped three spots — and out of the top five — in the Associated Press Top 25 poll following Saturday’s loss to Ohio State.
The Nittany Lions were at No. 3 last week — one spot above the Buckeyes — but fall to No. 6 in the most recent poll, which was released Sunday afternoon. The 20-13 loss was the Nittany Lions’ first of the season, and the 7-1 Buckeyes took their No. 3 spot in the poll.
Penn State is now the third highest-ranked team in the Big Ten, behind Ohio State and No. 1 Oregon. Indiana is the only other ranked Big Ten team at No. 8, though Washington and Iowa also received votes.
Penn State had 1,158 voting points — eight more than No. 7 Tennessee and 152 fewer than No. 5 Texas.
The College Football Playoff selection committee will release its first set of rankings on Tuesday.
This Saturday, the Nittany Lions will have the chance to improve their rankings when they face Washington at Beaver Stadium for the White Out game.
