Penn State football running back duo announces return for 2025 season

Two of Penn State’s best players will be back for the 2025 season.

Running backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen announced they would return to the Nittany Lions for their final season of eligibility. They made the announcements on their X accounts Monday afternoon.

In his statement, Singleton cited the “family environment” in the Lasch Building.

“We have accomplished a lot here, and we took another big step forward this season,” Singleton’s statement read. “But we know we are capable of being even better. ... We still have goals we want to reach as a team and I want to be alongside my teammates as we reach those goals.”

Singleton ran for a career high 1,099 yards this season and tied a career high with 12 rushing touchdowns under first year offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki. His 375 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns were both also career highs.

The Penn State running back did plenty of damage alongside Allen, who also set a career high with 1,108 rushing yards this season.

“Playing in front of these fans has been an experience I will never forget,” Allen’s statement read. “I love playing football and being able to play it in front of these great Penn State fans has made it extra special. I look forward to it again next season.”

Their return alongside Drew Allar should put the trio in position to be one of the best backfields in the country next season as the Nittany Lions make another run at the national title game.

Allen, Singleton and the rest of the team will begin that quest on Aug. 30 in Beaver Stadium when they take on Nevada.
