Penn State trustees to vote on naming rights deal for football field at Beaver Stadium: Source
Penn State’s board of trustees’ finance and investment committee will meet Monday to vote on a proposed naming rights deal for the field at Beaver Stadium, a source with knowledge of the situation told the Centre Daily Times on Saturday.
The meeting’s agenda is listed on the board’s website, with the only matter listed as “Proposed Recommendation from the Facilities and Academic Unit Naming Committee.”
The money received for the football field’s naming rights could help fund the university’s current renovation of the stadium that could cost up to $700 million.
The project is already underway and included a felling of the press box in January, widening of concourses and an addition of temporary seating ahead of the 2025 season that will allow the stadium to stay near its current capacity of 106,572.
The renovations are expected to be completed in their entirety ahead of the 2027 season and will include a completely renovated west side that includes 25% premium seating and 75% regular seating.
Other universities have begun agreeing to branding deals with their stadiums and fields — like Ohio State naming Ohio Stadium’s playing surface as Safelite Field and Tennessee agreeing to a deal with Pilot that includes their branding being placed on the field.
It’s not yet known how much money the naming rights for Penn State’s field could command.
