Penn State football adds All-ACC wide receiver Trebor Pena from transfer portal

Penn State has made a big addition to its offense — at the position where it arguably needed help the most.

The Nittany Lions earned a commitment from former Syracuse wide receiver Trebor Pena on Saturday morning. Pena is the No. 27-ranked wide receiver to enter the portal this offseason according to the 247Sports transfer rankings, and the No. 4 receiver to enter during the spring portal window.

The former Syracuse wide receiver earned second-team All-ACC honors after the 2024 season, appearing in every game and making 12 starts. He totaled 941 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns on 84 catches, along with adding 12 carries for 72 yards and a touchdown.

Pena did most of his damage for the Orange from the slot, where he used his route-running ability and strong hands to make an impact as a reliable receiver for then-Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord, who had previously transferred from Ohio State.

The newest Nittany Lion could provide the same help for Penn State quarterback Drew Allar and should be the favorite to start in the slot this season. He joins former USC wide receiver Kyron Hudson and former Troy receiver Devonte Ross as transfer portal additions at the position for Penn State.

All three are the current favorites to start for the team as it chases a national title during the 2025 season.
