Penn State is in the midst of a Beaver Stadium reconstruction project that could cost up to $700 million, and it won’t stop just because football season is set to get underway.

The project will continue during the week, and then on gamedays the venue will transform back into one of the largest stadiums in all of college football, with a temporary capacity of 106,304.

That being said, there will be some major differences for fans at home games this year, beginning with the Nittany Lions’ season opener this Saturday against the Nevada Wolf Pack.

Here’s everything you need to know about what’s changed — and what’s stayed the same — on gamedays this fall in Beaver Stadium.

West side temporary seating

Fans will be able to enter through gates B and C on the west side of the stadium, with access to the field level seating on that side of the field — not dissimilar to how the stadium was previously. The temporary seating in the upper level will be accessible from the upper concourse, just as the north and south upper levels are. That can be reached by going up any of the four stair towers on the west side of the stadium that were put in place this offseason.

East side temporary seating

There are six new stair towers on the east side of the stadium, two of which are permanent and four of which are temporary. Those can be used to access the upper level, including the temporary seating on the east side of the stadium which is located above gates A and E. Those seats have stair access. Even with that additions, the concessions in the area will remain at full service during the season.

Parking

The one-way traffic pattern will remain in effect this season, and is tentatively set to begin 2.5 hours before kickoff. North passes will enter from Fox Hollow Road, East passes will enter from Park Avenue, South passes will enter from Porter Road and West passes will enter from Park Avenue via North Atherton Street.

Gameday parking can be purchased in lots 25 and 36, but are credit or debit only. Prices are set to start at $105.

Miscellaneous changes

ADA entrance has moved from the west side of the stadium to the club and letterman entrance next to Gate A and the All-Sports Museum entrance next to gate B.

Additional temporary wireless internet access points were added on the west side, which can be accessed by joining the network labeled PSU Fan.

LED screens have been added above the south tunnel where the team comes out onto the field (replacing the previous cover) and along the railings around the field.

Doors open three hours prior to kickoff at the Bud Light Backyard Beer Garden located at gate F. It will include lawn games, televisions with football games on and a double-decker sports bar that all fans will have access to. The are will have both food and beverages available.
