Iowa State TE Benjamin Brahmer commits to Penn State from transfer portal: Report

Penn State has made a key addition on offense.

Former Iowa State tight end Benjamin Brahmer committed to the Nittany Lions via the transfer portal on Saturday afternoon, according to On3. He joins the program after playing for the Cyclones the first three years of his career and becoming one of the best in the country at his position.

Brahmer has 75 career catches for 977 yards and nine touchdowns, and was a focal point of the Iowa State offense in recent years. This past season, he was their third-leading pass catcher with 446 yards and led the program with 37 receptions and six receiving touchdowns as one of Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht’s favorite targets. Becht is also in the transfer portal.

The tight end’s best performance this season came against BYU when he caught five passes for 75 yards. Brahmer should come in and start right away alongside returning tight end Andrew Rappleyea, with Penn State expected to use plenty of two tight-end sets.

Brahmer is one of the best tight ends in the transfer portal, with 247Sports ranking him second at the position and On3 ranking him first.

He’s one of many former Iowa State players who are expected to follow new Penn State head coach Matt Campbell from Ames to State College.
